How can we help?
Postnatal & Infant Care
01
Mental health &
parental wellbeing
Infant care and maternal mental health are inseparable in the first year. We screen for postnatal depression and anxiety at developmental check appointments, and we make space in every consult to ask how you're actually doing. Where helpful, we can arrange referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist who works specifically with new parents.
02
Newborn & early infant checks
The first few weeks with a baby bring a lot of small questions and occasionally a few bigger ones. We offer dedicated newborn appointments to check weight gain, feeding, jaundice, reflux, sleep patterns, skin concerns, and anything else that's come up since you came home. These appointments are unhurried by design, because the early weeks rarely fit neatly into a fifteen minute slot.
03
Developmental & well-baby checks
Routine developmental checks at 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months and 18 months, aligned with the standard schedule. We use these appointments to track growth, movement, feeding, sleep, hearing and vision, and to talk through what's normal at each stage and what's worth keeping an eye on. They're also a useful chance to check in on you, because parental wellbeing is part of infant care.
04
Childhood vaccinations
We offer the full National Immunisation Program schedule from 6 weeks through to 18 months, given by our practice nurses alongside your developmental checks where possible. We'll talk you through what's being given, what to expect afterwards, and answer any questions you have, no matter how many times you've heard them already.
Frequently asked questions
Infant Care

Our infant care services are designed as an extension of the pregnancy and postnatal care we provide, so we generally see babies whose mothers have been patients of the clinic. If you're not currently a patient but you'd like to join us for postnatal care and ongoing infant care, our reception team can talk you through what's available. For ongoing well-child care without the women's health connection, your usual GP is the better fit.

We offer the full National Immunisation Program schedule from 6 weeks through to 18 months. We also provide additional vaccinations outside the standard NIP schedule, including Bexsero (meningococcal B), the annual influenza vaccine from 6 months of age, the meningococcal ACWY booster, and additional varicella doses where appropriate. These additional vaccines are privately purchased and we'll talk you through the cost, evidence, and timing.

While the vaccinations themselves are provided free of charge by the government, the consultation with our nurse or GP is privately billed. We'll always confirm costs when you book.

Yes. We complete the routine developmental checks and record them in your baby's Personal Health Record (the Blue Book in NSW) at each of the standard milestones. Bring the Blue Book to every appointment so we can keep it up to date.

Either a GP or our IBCLC can be a sensible starting point, and we often work together on these. If you're not sure, our reception team can help you decide. For complex feeding concerns such as suspected cows milk protein intolerance, slow weight gain, or persistent feeding pain, we'd usually suggest starting with the IBCLC and looping in a GP if medical review is needed.

There's no fixed cut-off, but most families transition their child's ongoing care to their usual GP somewhere between twelve and eighteen months, often around the time their own postnatal care is wrapping up. We'll talk to you about timing at your baby's later appointments and help arrange a clear handover, including a summary letter for the new GP if useful.

Breastfeeding Support

Feeding can be rewarding, stressful, painful, confusing, or all of the above. We offer non-judgemental support with our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for a wide range of breastfeeding and lactation concerns, including:

  • latch and positioning difficulties
  • nipple pain or nipple damage
  • concerns about milk supply
  • oversupply or fast let-down
  • blocked ducts and mastitis
  • feeding frequency and settling concerns
  • expressing, pumping, and return-to-work planning.

Our approach is practical, compassionate, and tailored to your goals. We support feeding in a way that works for you and your baby.

We can also support with more complicated feeding issues including slow weight gain, cows milk protein intolerance (CMPI) and other non IgE mediated allergies.

The woman has long, wavy, reddish-blonde hair, and the boy has blonde hair and is wearing a striped navy and white shirt.
